Why We Are

SAMAR is a duo of self taught perfumers who are on a mission to craft fully immersive and captivating perfumes. Our gender-fluid perfumes are lovingly handmade in small batches using high quality ingredients sourced from around the world. 

We are a Queer, Black, Asian, woman owned company based in Los Angeles and we are firmly rooted in civic engagement. We donate a minimum of 10% of our quarterly profits to a community organization providing vital services (linked on our website). In total, SAMAR (meaning both "fruits of paradise" and “evening conversations with friends” in Arabic) unites three of our passions: effective + joyful personal care, education, and supporting community organizations providing vital resources.

We believe perfumery is the natural coupling of art and science that exists solely to bring us joy and pleasure. The Scentuary is our homage to timeless beauty, the uncanny, and the surreal. We aim to defy expectations and create an olfactory experience that is intriguing and pleasurable from your first inhale to the final lingering moments on your skin. As two people driven by our love for experimentation and discovery, we will be developing new fragrances on an ongoing basis and rotating them in/out semi-seasonally.
